150 years since the birth of Maria Montessori
The 31st August 2020 will mark 150 years since the birth
of Maria Montessori. Being a montessori pre school we want
to share with you the values and beliefs which we have learned
from Maria, all of which form the core beliefs of West Wickham
and Beckenham Montessori pre schools.
‘’Free the childs potential and you will transform him into the
world’’
‘’The most important period of life is not the age of university
studies, but the first one, the period from birth to age of six’’
"There is a great sense of community within the Montessori
classroom, where children of differing ages work together
in an atmosphere ofcooperation rather than competitiveness.
There is respect for theenvironment and for the individuals within it, which comes through experience of freedom within the community."
"To assist a child we must provide him with an environment which will enable him to develop freely."
As a way to celebrate her life we will be putting up her words around the pre school settings in the coming weeks. To find out more about our methods please look at the ‘Learning and development’ page on our website.
Coronavirus
As the growth of the coronavirus continues, we have asked all of the children to wash their hands before coming in to the classroom and after leaving the classroom. As of yet the situation is not critical, however, we will continue to monitor the situation and be ready to act if need be.
World book week
This past week both West Wickham and Beckenham montessori pre schools took part in world book week to help grow the child’s fascination for reading. Many of the children came in the costumes of their favourite book characters which was very enjoyable for all.
